East Meets West: The Role of Connective Tissue in Acupuncture

$47.00

About the Presentation

Over the years, my work with John F. Barnes Myofascial Release®, AMMA Therapy®, and acupuncture has changed the way I understand the body, and the integration of these methods has transformed my practice. The more I’ve worked with connective tissue, the more I’ve come to see interesting connections between what we know from Western anatomy and what Chinese medicine has been doing for thousands of years.

In this 1-hour, 50-minute presentation, I share some of what I’ve learned over 24 years of practice. I talk about John F. Barnes Myofascial Release®, AMMA Therapy®, and acupuncture, and how my experience with all three has influenced the way I view the body and its incredible capacity to heal and change.

Fascia is everywhere in the body. It surrounds and connects our muscles, organs, nerves, blood vessels, and other tissues, helping the body move and function as an integrated whole. When fascia becomes restricted or loses some of its normal adaptability, it can affect movement, circulation, nerve function, and the way the body responds to stress and other demands.

Fascial health is an important piece of the picture with many conditions people struggle with: chronic pain, headaches and migraines, neck and back pain, TMJ problems, old injuries, repetitive strain, scar tissue, pelvic and abdominal tension, and fertility.

Fascia is also being explored in connection with more complex conditions such as hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, dysautonomia and POTS, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, and other conditions involving multiple systems of the body.

My hope is that after viewing this video, you’ll come away with a deeper understanding of your own body and perhaps a new way of thinking about what defines healing.

Practical Self-Treatment

The final part of the presentation is practical. I demonstrate several ways you can self-treat with Myofascial Release using the All Ball, giving you both the theory and some tools you can incorporate into your own self-care.

Who This Presentation Is For

This presentation is especially recommended for patients of my practice who want to better understand and enhance the work we do together and become more involved in their own healing process.

If you are thinking about becoming a patient in my practice, are interested in self-healing methods related to fascia and connective tissue, or are simply curious about why fascial health matters, I think you’ll find a lot here to explore.

This information may also be of interest to students and practitioners of acupuncture, Myofascial Release, and AMMA Therapy®.
